Clients and invoice breakdown

Updated: September 16, 2026

An agency has one AZbox account, many clients, and several projects per client. A client in AZbox is the grouping that makes that workable: it organises projects, decides who on your team can see them, and splits your invoice so you can re-bill.

Creating a client

Clients → Add client. Name, and optionally a contact email and notes. Then open a project, Edit project, and pick its client.

The Clients page then shows, per client: how many projects, how many keywords and which languages. The numbers come from the same count that your plan limits use, so they match what you are paying for.

Limiting a teammate to some clients

When you invite someone (or edit their invitation) you can tick the clients they work for. With none ticked they see the whole account; with some ticked, the rest of your portfolio does not exist for them: not the projects, not the keywords, not even the client names.

Splitting the invoice

AZbox bills your agency once, for your subscription. Settings → Billing & Invoices → Breakdown by client splits that invoice between your clients in proportion to the keywords in their projects, and gives you a CSV with a row per project.

Two details worth knowing:

  • The split is frozen when the invoice is paid. AZbox stores what each client had at that moment, so last month’s breakdown does not change because you added keywords this month. Invoices paid before this feature existed are split using today’s projects, and the page says so.
  • Projects with no client are grouped as Unassigned, not hidden.

This is a report for your re-billing, not a change to how Stripe charges you: you still get one invoice for the subscription.
